What positive behaviour support looks like in Parramatta

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), or behaviour therapy, is NDIS funded. The work happens in ordinary places, like the kitchen, the classroom and the shops along Church Street.

We work with children, teenagers and adults across Parramatta, at home, at school, at work and in the community.

Families, carers and support workers are part of every step. We coach them so the strategies carry on between our visits.

  • Practical help towards calmer days at home and at school
  • Plans written in plain English that everyone can follow
  • Practitioners who travel to you across Greater Western Sydney
  • A registered NDIS provider for all ages

How it works

From first call to ongoing plan: how it works

There are 6 steps, from your first call to a plan your team can follow.

  1. Referral and first phone call

Refer through our website or your coordinator. We take details by phone and book a first visit.

  2. Functional Behaviour Assessment

We meet the person and those who know them, then find why the behaviour happens.

  3. Strategy development and trial

We build strategies with your team, trial them and adjust what is not working.

  4. Behaviour Support Plan

We write a clear plan for day-to-day use.

  5. Implementation and training

We bring the plan into daily life and coach the people around the person.

  6. Review and monitoring

We check in regularly and update the plan as things change.

Where we work across the Parramatta area

We visit Parramatta, Harris Park, Granville, Westmead, North Parramatta, Rydalmere, Telopea and Dundas. Sessions can run at home, in class, in Parramatta Park or at Parramatta Library at PHIVE.

Every plan begins with an assessment

We start with a Functional Behaviour Assessment at home, at school and in the community. It shows what a behaviour does for the person.

A plan written for the people who use it

The assessment becomes a Behaviour Support Plan in plain English. Everyone in the person's day gets the same strategies, safe responses and training.

Shaping the environment around the person

We pair PBS with the Capable Environment Framework. We work on the person and their setting, whether that is a unit in Harris Park or a classroom in Westmead.

Working alongside your child's school

Parramatta children attend public, Catholic and independent schools, and many sit in support classes. With your consent, we use the same strategies in class and at home.

Funding behaviour support through your NDIS plan

Behaviour support usually sits under Improved Relationships, and we charge in line with NDIS pricing arrangements. Your support coordinator or local area coordinator can confirm what is included.
